Didora Larysa Ownership bookmarks of the Library of the Berdychiv Social and Historical Museum (1926–1954)Abstract: The purpose of this article is to introduce into scientific circulation book markson books from the former library of the Berdychiv Socio-Economic and Historical Museum (1926–1953). During the study of its fund, paleographic and historical chronological methods were used. The scientific novelty of the study lies in the fact that for the first time fragments of private and institutional libraries of the Berdychiv Socio-Economic and Historical Museum are being introduced into scientific circulation and book marks on them are being studied. Conclusions. The museumin Berdychiv was opened in 1926. In 1928, it was reorganized into the All-Ukrainian State Historical and Cultural Reserve. The museum’s library began to be organized even before its opening, but this process was not completed due to a lack of staff. In particular, a library catalog was not created. At the same time, the library kept books that were given the status of exhibits. First of all, these were old prints, some of which were lost during World War II. In 1944, after the liberation of Berdychiv, the museum resumed its work, and in 1954, according to the resolution on the expansion of regional museums, the exhibits of the museum in Berdychiv were transferred to the Zhytomyr Regional Museum of Local Lore. The Berdychiv Museum officially ceased to exist. Today, the former museum library, consisting of 3,374 items, isstored in the Department of Library Collections and Historical Collections of the Institute of Bibliography of the V. I. Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine. The studied proprietary book marks have become a source of new information about the book, its authors and owners. The historical and cultural value and uniqueness of the books in the museum library have been enhanced. The identification and attribution of book marks allow us to better understand the process of books moving from collection to collection, to see traces of the dispersion of certain book collections that currently make up the collection of the V. I. Vernadskyi National Library of Ukraine. The researched proprietary book marks became a source of new information about books, their authors and owners. The research revealed books from the collections of Count Marian Chapskyi (1816–1875), Princes Karol Stanislaw Radziwill (1734–1790), Konstantin Lyubomyrskyi (1786–1870), Peter Trubetskyi (1724–1791), Father Kyprian Puhalskyi (d. 1882), Vasyl Perogovskyi (1824–1881), Frederick Salzman (1749–1821), private libraries of the Zhurovsky and Potocki families.
