Formation of virtual spaces of modern libraries: trends and challenges

Abstract: The purpose of the article is to study the impact of digital technologies on the transformation of libraries, to identify the main challenges faced by libraries in the context of digital culture, and to analyse the prospects for further development of their virtual spaces. The research methodology is based primarily on a scientific analysis of existing publications; comparative analysis, systematic approach and the method of induction. The novelty of the article lies in an integrated approach to analysing the impact of digital technologies on the formation of virtual spaces of libraries in modern society. Conclusions. Virtual spaces open up new opportunities for the development of librarianship, but require an integrated approach to solving technical and organisational issues. The integration of virtual spaces into the activities of libraries is an integral part of the modern development of information institutions, which allows to expand access to knowledge and services. The maintools for creating virtual library spaces that make services available to a wide range of users, regardless of their location, are websites, mobile applications and social networks. One of the main challenges in the process of creating such spaces is the need to address issues of information security, equal access to digital resources, and staff development. To ensure the effective functioning of virtual libraries, a systematic approach is needed, including technical support, user training, and active participation of librarians in the development of new services.
