Ukrainian kyrilo-methodian a third of a century of independenceAbstract: The purpose of the article is to analyze the works of Ukrainian researchers related to Saints Cyril and Methodius, to identify the main directions, schools, and topics popular in Ukrainian "Cyrilо-Methodiana". The research methodology is based on the use of general scientific and special research methods (generalization, systematic, classification, descriptive). Scientific novelty. In the article the publications about Saints Cyril and Methodius are divided into four main groups: biographical, revealing little-known pages of the life of educators; publications related to the Cyril and Methodius tradition in culture and language; publications related to the history of the development of Old Rus (Ukrainian) writing; religious aspects of Cyril and Methodius studies; popularization and reference essays. Conclusions. One of the most popular directions of Ukrainian Cyril and Methodius studies is the appeal to the legacy of the enlighteners, as patrons of the idea of "one’s own language in one’s church", which coincides with the socio-cultural context of Ukraine in recent decades. The historiographical component of the research is noticeable, where the views of the leading figures of Ukrainian linguogenesis, in particular I. Ohienko and M. Brychevsky, are analyzed, reviews of problematic issues that the authors often do not manage to solve. The importance of educators for the consolidation of Europe is also an important topic for researchers. Lviv, Kyiv, Kharkiv and Odesa scientific centers play the biggest role in the researches. The popularization component of Cyril and Methodius is quite large-scale, but the superiority of scientists and religious centers in the process of popularization, almost without the involvement of the sphere of culture and state power, does not contribute to the emergence of qualitatively new stages in the dissemination of knowledge. Keywords: historiography, Cyril and Methodius, Cyril and Methodius, biographical Slavic studies.
