Analytical and statistical characteristics of publications of the Institute of Library Science of the V. I. Vernadskyi National library of Ukraine on the results of scientific research work (2020–2022)

Abstract: The purpose of the article is to review and analyze the dynamics of publications of the researchers of the scientific project of the Institute of Library Science of the V. I. Vernadskyi National Library of Ukraine (2020–2022), as well as to identify the main trends and priority aspects related to the publication of research results. The research methodology is based on the use of general scientific and specialized methods (structural, comparative, and statistical analysis, synthesis, description, generalization, and systematization) grounded in the principles of objectivity andintegrity. Scientific novelty. A statistical and source analysis of the publications prepared by the researchers of the scientific project of the Institute of Library Science of the V. I. Vernadskyi National Library of Ukraine within the research topic "Library and Information complex in the context of the Transformation of Scientific Communications" (2020–2022) has been conducted. This research was carried out during the COVID-19 pandemic and the onset of full-scale warin Ukraine in 2022. The main trends and priority aspects related to the dissemination of the results of applied scientific research have been identified, particularly in the context of the international integration of Ukrainian library science and practice. Conclusions. While fulfilling the tasks of comprehensive research, participants of the departmental program of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine under the topic "Library and Information Complex in the Context of the Transformation of Scientific Communications" published a series of theoretical and applied results in domestic and international publications during 2020–2022. Despite the remote work mode during this period, introduced due to quarantine restrictions and the beginning of Russia’s military aggression against Ukraine, the researchers completed the assigned tasks and actively published the results of their applied scientific developments. The analysis showed that 2022 was the most productive year, both in terms of the number of publications and their volume. In 2022, compared to 2020 and 2021, the total volume of scientific publications increased by 45%, and the number of author sheets increased by 61%. Of the total number of scientific publications, 37% were articles in domestic professional periodicals and ongoing publications, of which 74% were published by the V. I. Vernadskyi National Library of Ukraine. More than 50% were reports at International Scientific, All-Ukrainian Scientific-Practical, Sectoral, and Regional Conferences, with 85% being theses published in international conference proceedings. Additionally, 5.3% were publications in scientific collections, and scientific-practical and methodological manuals, published in both printed and electronic editions. At the same time, the relatively low number of scientific publications in foreign journals (7.1%) and those indexed in international scientometric databases such as Scopus and / or Web of Science (2.5%) draws attention. The main reason for the small number of articlesin foreign journals could be the language barrier, which should be addressed to improve the professional qualifications of the staff of the V. I. Vernadskyi National Library of Ukraine. More active mastery of foreign languages in the context of professional activities will increase the number of publications in foreign professional journals, particularly those indexed in international scientometric databases. This will broaden the scope of professional communication and help promote applied scientific developments and historical research conducted by Ukrainian specialists, which is essential for the development of integration processes of Ukrainian library science at the international level.
