The Library as a Participant in the Dialogue between Public and State Authorities in Achieving Gender Parity in Ukraine

Abstract: The article presents a study of library activities aimed at ensuring gender equality in modern society. Emphasis is placed on the effectiveness of using the possibilities of digital technologies in library activities to inform users about useful sites and mobile applications on gender issues created by state structures, international and domestic organizations. An analysis of the existing digital resource, which can be used by libraries to expand citizens’ access to official information on gender issues, and to raise awareness of gender issues, was made. Attention is focused on resources created by state authorities, international institutions, and scientific institutions. These are, first of all, those created by Ukrainian state institutions independently or in cooperation with other organizations and governments of other countries. The most significant among them are: Action. Centers platform. Online course Gender equality and human rightsin the work of the Central National Academy of Sciences; Action. Education: the educational series for teenagers "Basic knowledge about gender"; Online portal of strategic information on issues of gender equality; Platform of assistance to the rescued; National Social Service Service of Ukraine. The second group of resources are those created by the structures of the UN, the EU, and the governments of other countries. The most informative of them are the following: Library on Gender Equality, UNFPA in Ukraine, the website of the UN Women structure, Women’s Educational Online Academy "Dream and Achieve", Library on Gender Equality, Platform Women are 50% of Ukraine’s success. The third group consists of resources created by scientific institutions of Ukraine, which acquaint users with the results of their scientific research. These are the Internet pages of the Center for Legal Studies of Gender Policy at V. M. Koretsky Institute of State and Law National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, as well as gender centers created at universities. Attention is focused on the actualization of the communication aspect of libraries’ participation in the intensification of the dialogue between public and state authorities, it is emphasized that libraries today can become the information and communication platform that will significantly increase the effectiveness of the integration of the gender componentin all spheres of public life.
