I. Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine, and with the help of the archive of the Institute of Manuscripts, fund I “Literary materials”, fund H. UAN-VUAN, fund 40 of M. P. Vasylenko, fund 50 of the Leontovych Music Society, fund 86 of H. P. Zhitetskyi, fund 279 of O. P. Novytskyi, fund 285 of P. M. Popov and fund 291 of V. M. Zummer, the activities of the F. Vovk’s Cabinet-Museum of Anthropology and Ethnology, archival collections of the Museum of Ukrainian Science and Art Figures and the Ukrainian Theater Museum at the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences, the Museum of Artsand the Kyiv Art Gallery. During the stay of the museum institutions under the auspices of the Academy of Sciences, their collections were replenished, supplemented and had educational significance for researchers and common people. The significance of the archival collections of the Institute of Manuscript of V. I. Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine in relation to the museums founded under the auspices of the Academy of Sciences, is priceless for science. With the beginning of Soviet repressions, the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences was forcibly reformed, and many scientists perished. The ideology imposed by the government destroyed the first sprouts of Ukrainization among the intelligentsia. Academic museums were reorganized in the 1930s, collections were disbanded and handed over to the People’s Commissariat of Education. Documentary collections of these museums were transferred to various institutions and actually dispersed. The museum of activists failed to recover, in the atmosphere of harassment of the Ukrainian intelligentsia, it ceased to exist in 1934. However, the activity and its employees’ devoted work were of great importance for the development of the memorial work of Ukrainian museums in the 20s and 30s. Since 1934, all the art museums in Kyiv havebeen united in the system of the People’s Commissariat of Education, the Art Museum of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences has been combined with the Kyiv Art Gallery. However, the composition of each sectors of this State Art Museum was so significant that their unification turned out to be irrational. In this regard, in 1936, the sectors of Russian, as well as Western and Easternart were separated and transformed into independent museums, which were transferred in charge of the Department of Arts Affairs under the Councilof People’s Commissars of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic.
