Rudakova Yulia Editions without imprints from the printing house of the Lviv Brotherhood of the Holy Trinity in the collection of V. I. Vernadsky National Library of UkraineAbstract: The purpose of the article is to present the results of the attribution of seven editions published by the printing house of the Lviv Brotherhood of the Holy Trinity, produced without indication of the place of printing on the title page, which now are preserved in the collection of the Department of Ancient and Rare Books at V. I. Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine (VNLU). The study also demonstrates the process of attributing imprints through the analysis of typographic materials, such as fonts and decorative elements. The methodology for attributing and conducting bibliographic study of publications with missing or incomplete imprint information involves a comprehensive study of the typographic characteristics of the editions, primarily focusing on the text structure, decorative elements, and fonts. Scientific Novelty. For bibliographic analysis, seven editions with varying topics, formats and volumes –printed without specifying complete imprint information – were selected from the collection of the Department of Ancient and Rare Books at VNLU. Based on typographic materials and decorative elements used, the place of publication for these editions was identified as the Lviv printing house of the Brotherhood of the Holy Trinity. One of these publications is not included in the bibliography of Ukrainian old prints. The article also includes bibliographic descriptions of the revised editions, arranged in chronological order, as wellas images of decorative elements frequently found in editions from the Brotherhood’s printing house, as presented in the analyzed copies. Conclusions. The analysis of typographic materials, such as fonts and decorative elements, is an effective method for determining the place of publication and the printing house. Attribution based on the typographic and decorative features of editions, allows for the expansion of the bibliography of works produced by the Brotherhood of the Holy Trinity’s printing house and represents a promising approach for identifying new editions lacking imprint information from Ukrainian printing houses. Keywords: attribution, imprint, printing house of the Brotherhood of the Holy Trinity in Lviv, decorative elements, initials, headpieces, tailpieces. Author(s) citation:
