Ways of Improving the Presentation of Library Activities in the Information Space

Abstract: The paper presents recommendations for improving the level of representation of library publishing activities in the information space. The study of the representation of library publishing activities in the information space is important for several reasons. First, it contributes to the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage by helping libraries to disseminate knowledge and preserve rare materials. Secondly, libraries publishing activity helps them to perform the educational function by creating educational materials accessible to a broad audience, which contributes to the increasing of society intellectual potential. Third, research into the effectiveness of ways libraries use information technology, provides better access to publications and allows understanding of how digital platforms and social media can be used to disseminate materials. These recommendations were selected basing on an analysis of the presentation of publications on library websites and on their pages in social networks. In general, 15 recommendations were identified that will help libraries to increase the level of representation of library publishing activities in the information space. These recommendations are: expanding digital presence; improving content quality; optimizing information for search engines; engaging the audience actively; expanding partnerships and collaboration; supporting open access; constant monitoring and analysis; professional development of employees; development of mobile platforms; attracting opinion leaders (influencers); developing interactive materials; publishing cases and success stories; targeting the audience; highlighting archival publications; developing branding strategies. The implementation of recommendations cancontribute to increasing the effectiveness of libraries work within the context of the modern information society. Also, the proposed list will help to expand the variety of content offered to users, encouraging them to present their own publications. The recommendations are not exhaustive and can be adapted to the needs of an individual library.
