Social Media as a Component of Digital Communication of the President of Ukraine during the Wartime

Abstract: The article analyzes the key aspects of the formation of the communication strategy of the presidential structures both inside and outside the country in the context of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by Russia. Given the growing intensity of information exchanges and the main wartime challenges, network communication systems were chosen as the basic platforms for communication between the authorities and target audiences, as the most efficient means of promoting key messages and newsworthy events in the media space. It is determined that the active use of social networks in the daily communication of the President of Ukraine with foreign and Ukrainian audiences allowed not only to respond promptly to the propaganda accusations of the Russian Federation, but also to effectively promote truthful information about the realstate of affairs in Ukraine and the actual extent of its destruction. The article analyzes the activity of the President of Ukraine on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter in the context of the war and in accordance with the socio-political situation in the country, as well as the impact of the popularity of social media accounts on his overall ratings of audience support. The active involvement of followers in promoting public diplomacy and scaling up the main political vectors in international support for Ukraine has led to the emergence and popularization of the so-called “Zelensky phenomenon” as a narrative of popular resistance and Ukrainians’ indomitable nature in the fight for life and freedom. In this context, the article actualizes the main approaches to the formation of online trends in the field of presidency’ digital communication, as wellas the issue concern to advocacy of key vectors of the President of Ukraine positioning in modern network communications.
