Internet Resources as a Tool for Cultural Heritage Preservation in Emergencies: the US Experience

Abstract: The article containd analysis of the key tools and initiatives used in the USA to protect cultural heritage during crises. Among them, such important resources as the California Preservation Program, which provides comprehensive support in the field of cultural objects preservation, and the Northeast Document Conservation Center (NEDCC), which offers the dPlan tool for planning measures to rescue cultural values during emergencies, are highlighted. In addition, the article provides a detailed overview of the online resources of the American Library Association (ALA) and the Library of Congress, whichplay a significant role in preserving library collections. Special attention is paid to international organizations such as the World Monuments Fund and the Getty Conservation Institute, which are involved in the protection of architectural heritage and the restoration of cultural values. For a more in-depth analysis, examples of online platforms Connecting to Collections Care and Conservation OnLine are examined, which provide access to information and resources on cultural heritage preservation. This work emphasizes the importance of using online resources to increase the effectiveness of measures to protect cultural heritage during emergencies. It is emphasized that scientists and organizations are actively continuing to work on the development of new methods and technologies for more effective use of online resources in this field. Incidentally, it was noted that although the websites are mainly focusedon the US cultural heritage preservation system, the principles and recommendations presented on them are universal. Therefore, modern challenges in the field of cultural heritage preservation require a global approach, and the US experience in this field can be adapted to various regional conditions and specific crisis situations, including those which take place in Ukraine.
