Legal Education of the Population: the Role of Libraries in Ukraine

Abstract: The article discusses the role of libraries in Ukraine in the implementation of the legal education of the population, in particular, reveals the main competitive advantages of library facilities in this process. Attention is drawn to the fact that in the context of Ukraine developing as a democratic state, its entry into the global legal and information space, priority was acquired by the sphere of legal awareness. Accordingly, there were determined the basic directions of library policy in the implementation of the legal awareness of the Ukrainian society. The effective activities on the implementation of legal education work by libraries in Ukraine are considered on definite examples. Attention is drawn to the fact that in this process different types of libraries have their own specifics. The article also addresses the issue of further improvement of legal education in the libraries of Ukraine.
