Problem of Expanding Access to Scientific Information in a Modern "Cossack" Discourse

Abstract: Vast majority of discussions since the creation of the Cossack chronicles until today publications in periodicals, prolonged publications and monographs are covering a huge range of different problems, one way or another connected with state, building of political institutions, functioning and interaction of different branches of government, the formation of political consciousness and culture at the territory of Hetman Ukraine. The most important obstacle in this field is the absence of public access to original sources. Therefore, solving this problem in a variety of forms, such as, scanned form, electronic version of printed book or reprint edition, is perhaps the most important task of the various academic institutions including libraries. Current state of affairs in this field is not characterized by positive dynamics. A huge amount of scientific literature, used by scientists when writing new monographs, is often available only in the halls of libraries or in archives. The role of scientific information will increase in times if its availability becomes its major component. Expansion of opportunities for realization of social communication, including scientific one, will allow solving any scientific problem, in this case the «arguments about the Cossacks», from such positions that were impossible 2 decades ago. The efforts of scientific institutions, that aimed to improve access to sources and scientific information within the framework of contemporary Cossack discourse, are not only retaining urgency but are updating with modern trends of development of the national information space.

Keywords: Scientific Information, «Cossack» Discourse, Hetman.
