Lykhanova Iryna Bibliographic Index «Book in Ukraine in 1861–1917»: issues of creation and useAbstract: Basing on the materials from library card-index of famous bibliologist Stepan Petrov (1917-1974), Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine (VNLU) publishes retrospective bibliographic index «Book in Ukraine. 1861–1917: materials to the repertoire of Ukrainian books». The article analyzes directions of work of the Department of National Bibliography VNLU on creating and prospects of using the Index «Book in Ukraine. 1861–1917: materials to the repertoire of Ukrainian books». It is emphasized in the article, that the bibliographic Index «The Book of Ukraine in 1861–1917» is a sound work on opening repertoire of the national printed heritage of the second half of XIX – yearly XX century. In order to maximize content of the Index, the group of authors is conducting significant research-searching work, aimed at detection, analysing and processing of bibliographic sources, containing information about publications in Ukrainian and Russian languages, which were published during the 1861–1917 ears within state borders of modern Ukraine. There are being considered printed and electronic informational and bibliographic resources, basing on which, the scientific bibliographic publishing and supplement of card-index are conducted. Attention is also paid to the databases «International consolidated catalog repertoire of Ukrainian-language books of 1798-1923 yy.», «Catalogue of Russian books of XIX century (1826–1917)». It is noted, that in parallel there exists the electronic version of the publication, which allows free access to information of national-level significance to the citizens of the country and foreign users. Scientific and information significance of this work is that it shows the huge array of publications of universal content in Ukrainian and Russian languages, which were published during 1861–1917 years/ Materials of the Index «Book in Ukraine. 1861–1917» give rather complete picture of the state of book publishing in Ukraine in the second half of XIX – early XX century, creating a solid foundation for bibliology studies, library sciences and other researches.
