The library Nicolas Monastery: history formation and the current state

Abstract: The article examines the historical formation of library of Kiev Monastery of St. Nicolas in the context of the history of the monastery, and transfer part which included books in foreign languages, the Kiev Theological Seminary in 1848, the archives − the museum in Kiev Theological Academy in 1875. Revealed that the latter was to organize the library opening Kiev military-folk museum in connection with which the catalog was created in 1912. Since 1923, the museum settled as public housing, the library of the monastery was transferred to Nationwide Library of Ukraine. Now part of the library is in the department of library collections and historical collections as a separate unit and as part of the library of the Kiev Theological Seminary; part – in the department of rare and old books, and manuscripts are in the Institute of Manuscripts NBUV.
