Kostyrko Tamara, Bielodied Olena The university library and tolerance education of today’s youthAbstract: The idea of tolerance is examined in the article as the most effective way of promoting mutual understanding, mutual respect and harmony in society. The results of the survey "University library and tolerance of today's youth" are described, which was conducted to determine the professional attitude of the university librarians to tolerance problems, learning opportunities of libraries of universities to conduct humanitarian and educational activities, creating an environment of dialogue of cultures, tolerant communication. Sixty five employees of customer service departments of the leading libraries of universities of Mykolaiv have been involved in the research. The research made it possible to conclude that librarians of universities have a high level of understanding of the problems of tolerance, their importance for the development of the individual and society. A formation of tolerant consciousness and behavior of library users by developing targeted programs that involve a number of events on tolerance with using modern information resources and communication channels, involving institutions and organizations dealing with youth issues, cooperation with national diasporas is suggested.
