Lutsyshyna Tetiana Institutional repository as a promising form of scientific and educational communication at the higher educationAbstract: In the context of information support of educational and scientific activities of higher education institutions is particularly actual problem placing scientific and methodological developments in the open access. The principles of open access-providing unlimited and free access to scientific publications and research by self-archiving in electronic archives («green» way of open access) and published in electronic journals («gold» open access path). The article identifying trends forming electronic collections and navigation and search possibilities institutional repositories University of Western Ukraine. Structural analyzes, typological features and content systematization materials in the archives, traditional search mechanisms expression search and advanced search in different metadata. There are given the idea that the formation of electronic collections of documents in the archives of open access is in accordance with the profile of professional training universities. Navigation and search capabilities Ukrainian institutional repositories responsible service in the software on which operates archive. Recommendations for placement in the archives regulatory, instructional and teaching materials on the functioning institutional repositories, policy research and educational placement of documents in the archive, mechanisms for searching documents in the repository.
