Formation of Gender Tolerance – the Mission of the Modern Library

Abstract: The article examines library place in the system of gender-oriented information and communication processes in transition to information society. The experience in creating gender-based information resource libraries, and activity of both foreign and domestic libraries in this direction are analyzed. Attention is drawn to the need for active cooperation between libraries, archives, and documentation and information center on women’s and gender history in the accumulation of documentation and representation of information resources on gender issues. The role of libraries in changing existing gender stereotypes in society and diversity communication practices of modern libraries in the context of gender consciousness in the knowledge society was studied.
