Modern Library as a Multiservice Institution

Abstract: The article reviews the transformation of a library’s social mission and informational function under the current conditions and covers Ukrainian and foreign experience in provision new librarian services and informational products. The role of modern library and its prospects in the prevention of destructive social and information processes in society has elucidated. Actualization of the issue of making appropriate changes to the traditional activities of a library as a service institution is caused by highly dynamic information and socio-economic processes. The examples of unique models of interaction between information services and social services for various categories of the population, which carried out on the library platform along with the usual forms of activity, is the subject of the article.
