The Activity of Libraries in the Context of Overcoming Sociocultural Threats in the Educational and Cultural Spheres

Abstract: The article investigates the activity of libraries in the struggle for the information space, in the context of overcoming sociocultural threats in, educational and cultural spheres.The social image of the library as a non-commercial information provider in the struggle for spiritual values is highlighted. The emphasis was put on the cultural and educational potential of the library, ways of improving the quality of activities and professional competence of library staff on the basis of the latest information and communication technologies were suggested. The role of public library is reasonable as a cultural, social and informative, multifunction center. The Existent models of development of public library are considered at national level. An assistance to інтелектуалізації of society is certain the important task of modern library due to creation of corresponding of socialcommunication environment. The activity of libraries in the struggle for the information space, in the context of overcoming sociocultural threats in educational and cultural spheres is considered. Attention is given to the social image of the library as a non-commercial provider of information in fighting for spiritual values. The emphasis was put on the cultural and educational potential of the library. Ways of improving the quality of activities and professional competence of library staff on the basis of the latest informational and communicational technologies were suggested.
