Engineering of the Information Need as a Mechanism of Socialization in Modern Society

Abstract: The problem of adapting the personality to the realities of the functioning of the global information space, which generating new socialization challenges is analyzed. For the first time, the terminology «engineering of the information need» which means the regulation of the information behavior of the individual in order to improve it is used. Тhe possibility of realization of the engineering of the information need by forming the media-information literacy of the individual is proposed. It will allow the person to consciously navigate in massifs of information, rationally consume and use the received information. The engineering of the information need is considered as the direction of library work on information socialization of population. The role of modern libraries in the implementation of media education programs is highlighted.
