Abstract: The article explores LIBER as leading library organization in Europe that was established in 1971. About 450 national, university and other libraries are part of the organization and its wider network includes goal-oriented partnerships with other organizations in Europe and beyond.Lack of information on this subject in Ukrainian science field forms one of the article main goals: to inform Ukrainian libraries staff about LIBER and its projects. Study uses historical method and analysis of open sources.LIBER promotes new opportunities in the projects of the European research library network. The article explores the prerequisites, the current state, goals and further prospects of LIBER international projects. The study also highlights the structural organization of LIBER, its strategy and plans for the future. For many years LIBER has been involved in international scientific, cultural and educational projects. LIBER has been involved in dozens of cutting-edge digital projects. Much attention is paid to LIBER’s projects that are currently underway, including SSHOC, INOS and reCreating Europe. These projects were called to make modernizing influence on areas of humanities, university curricula, and rethinking digital copyright law.Now none of Ukrainian libraries participate in LIBER’s projects. As result of current study rise of interest among Ukrainian scientists towards LIBER is expected. LIBER is integrated in various EU educational programs what will promote further integration of Ukraine into EU educational space on a long time perspective.
