Features of Counteracting Fake Information in Social Networks

Abstract: The paper presents the study of the problem of using social networking opportunities to increase the influence on society via formation of certain stereotypes and behavior through false information – fakes. At present, the topical and critical issue, not only in Ukraine but also in the modern world, is the truthfulness of information in global Internet resources, such as social networks. The article tasks can be stated as follows: to single out and to gene- ralize the peculiarities of counteracting fake information in social networks, and to describe methods which are basic for international and Ukrainian experience of combating bots.Communication is a strategic tool for the development of modern society and plays very important role in the development of the information society itself, and also becomes its strategic resource. Therefore, one of the main features of modern society is the dynamic development of information and communication sphere. Nowadays, access to any information becomes unobstructed, ways to share it are being improved and this exchange takes place most actively through communication, mutual information and discussion of various topics on social networks. The process came to a point where it became apparent that social networks had a real impact on public opinion, but they don’t have clear and written system of control over the truth of information. The study focuses on the world and domestic experience of dealing with fake information on social networks.Having examined the spread of fake information on social networks, we conclude that the internal market for political communication on the Internet is quite strong, diverse, horizontal and with many players. Basically, this market is hidden. There are many tools that include not only manipulating public opinion, but often using them to discredit opponents and protect the interests of various business-political groups.
