Libraries in Information and Analytical Support of Strategic Communications

Abstract: A number of scientific works on the problem of global information space and understanding of current trends in the development of the system of strategic communications, as well as the importance of information and analytical activities of library departments, are analyzed. Due to the growing information threats, the question arose of ensuring the protection of state own information space, which the state should take care of not only within its country, but also in the international information space. It is proved that for constant counteraction to destructive information influences, constant monitoring, analysis, estimation and forecast of both Ukrainian and foreign information messages in electronic mass media are required. The article emphasizes that in connection with the process of armed and information aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, it is urgent to counteract the situation, refute misinformation, disseminating reliable messages in all media as much as possible. It is noted that researchers see that the intensification of strategic communications in Ukraine is largely the result of the Russian Federation hybrid war against Ukraine. It is proved that information and analytical work is an important requirement for functioning of strategic communications, and the leading libraries of Ukraine are the most democratic social institution, which provides free, equal access to the most complete and reliable information. Thus, the demand for independent information and analytical products is growing. The activity of information and analytical subdivisions of V. I. Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine includes the projects on strategic level, samples of the projects are described. It is also emphasized that the value and efficiency of information and analytical work depends on the efficiency of an order processing and event forecasting.
