Tour Activity in the Fund of the Presidents of Ukraine: New Challenges

Abstract: The purpose of the study is to identify key factors and new challenges which the Fund of Presidents of Ukraine (V.I.Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine) meets in terms of increasing the importance of remote service for the library users. The growing popularity of sightseeing activities created by the Fund of Presidents of Ukraine obviously requires the provision of the highest quality services in this area. The object of the study is the analysis of improving the tour service for visitors of the Fund of Presidents of Ukraine as part of a set of main areas of work of the library. The ways of development of tour activity of the Fund are offered, namely, expansion of a spectrum of services, development of new system of visitors’ activities. The expediency of introduction of new forms and methods of tour guiding that will promote popularization, in particular, of the gifts collection and the Fund of Presidents of Ukraine as a whole, is considered. In the modern information space, the problem of increasing the competitiveness of museums, archives, as well as the promotion of libraries collections is solved, in particular, by intensifying tour activities. The museum collection of the Fund of Presidents of Ukraine is gaining great popularity among different age groups of visitors, Ukrainian and foreign media, foreign tourists and guests of Kyiv. It is obvious that the growing interest in the activities of the Fund is not only due to the interest of Ukrainian media in the the Presidents of Ukraine gifts collection, but also due to increased requests for tours from the library users and the Fund visitors. In fact, the above-mentioned media heat up such interest in society given the special status and role of the President of Ukraine in modern political processes and social transformations. Citizens have always been and will be interested in what the Presidents of Ukraine receive as a gift, of course, and it is even more interesting to see these gifts with their own eyes. Having analyzed the factors of tour services competitiveness, it should be notef the urgent need to increase the variety of its forms using innovative and information technologies and the introduction of the new ones in the Fund wotk, such as: online tours and tours for children with special needs; quest tours for schoolchildren, thematic videos for the elderly persons. Therefore, the actualization of the issue of ways to develop tour activity in the Fund of Presidents of Ukraine requires further careful research, more detailed development and introduction of new methods of tour guiding.
