The electronic catalogues in the light of requirements to services of next generation

Abstract: Purpose of the article to explore modern requirements to electronic catalogues as a service new generation. Methodology - the theoretical analysis, the synthesis. Scientific novelty. The innovative products were considered as electronic catalogues of new generation, where have used another structure, regulations, the technology of creating bibliographic records, including OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog), if compare with the traditional cards and the printed bibliographic resources. There are requirements to OPAC which allow to use it people with different level of information culture without intermediaries. Searching information from mobile Internet is the most available therefore determine the need creating of mobile versions on the library sites, in particular catalogues as regular sites can be used from laptop or a personal computer, for using with mobile devices are not adapted. Conclusions. The librarians were motivated rethink and rebuild their services and technologies because of high expectations the web-competent customers and web services 2.0 which accented on the one hand personalization and individualism, on the other - creative interaction and exchange particular electronic catalogues first of all by detection and understanding needs and behavior users of libraries. That have led to development the most oriented on users of next generation library catalogues, web catalogues 2.0 or, social OPAC. This model involves expanding the functionality of catalogues and providing access to a variety content, including annotations, collections, cover art, reviews, users’ comments, recommended literatures, readers’ ratings, main texts of documents etc. The obtained results of the research can be used to improve the existing electronic catalogues of Ukrainian libraries.
