Austrian national library in a system of scientific communication

Abstract: Subject of study. The article deals with the state and modern trends in development of scientific communications at the Austrian National Library, types and formats applied by the Library in a system of scientific communications. Problem Statement. At the сurrent stage libraries are dominant among social communication systems and naturally become an integration element of the scientific communication system. The Austrian National Library is included in a wide field of new relations of the global information space, integration into the system of social communications of society and the system of scientific communications. The purpose of the study. To analyze the state and modern trends in the development of scientific communications at the Austrian national Library and find out possible innovations for Ukrainian libraries related to this area. The research methodology is based on system and structural approaches, including an interdisciplinary approach. Scientific novelty. The types and new forms of scientific communication, the dissemination of electronic communication in the daily practice of scientists, the growth of international scientific relations are revealed. Practical meaning. The study of patterns and new forms of scientific communication allows to develop practical recommendations for the prospects of their widespread usage. Results of the research. The prevailing trends of scientific communication of the Austrian National Library in the information field of Austria, new forms of electronic scientific communication in the development of science (electronic scientific resources, electronic libraries) are revealed, the main issues including the provision of open access to information are outlined. The trends of scientific communication of the library, namely, development of co-authorship, growth of international and interdisciplinary cooperation, formation of remote network collectives (scientific forums, blogs), etc. are high-lighted. Conclusions. In most developed countries, scientific communication has formed into a separate professional academic discipline. In Ukraine, such implementations are also entirely possible, on the condition of training of the librarians and providing the software solutions.
