Bibliotherapy as a Direction of Library Activity under the Russian-Ukrainian War

Abstract: The article covers the use of the bibliotherapy as one of libraries modern activities, role of libraries in preparation, organization, conduct of bibliotherapy programs and activities, as well as the impact of book reading as a mandatory component of the bibliotherapy component on one’s intellectual, psychological state. It is emphasized that bibliotherapy must be carried out with the participation of specialists: a psychotherapist and a specially trained librarian whohas theoretical background and practical skills sufficient to perform reading therapy.The experience of foreign countries in the use of bibliotherapy, promotion of the positive impact of book reding on human well-being is highlighted. It is noted that such experience is important not only for study, improvement and further application of bibliotherapy per se, but also at the level of state formation, because it contributes to strengthening of humanitarian national security, social care, healthy nation.The state of development and application of bibliotherapy in Ukraine is considered, it is emphasized that preference is given to children bibliotherapy, as the use of various methods (fairy tale therapy, ecotherapy, art therapy, game therapy) makes it easierto distract, interest, calm, solve children’s needs. As for bibliotherapy for the elderly, compared to foreign experience, it is not so widely used, although it is scientifically recognized that reading affects health, improves memory, reduces stress.The conclusion stresses the relevance of bibliotherapy, its import ance and the need to apply all methods, forms of bibliotherapeutic practices in life, especially to overcome the consequences of stressful situations, the losses associated with the horrors of the Russian war ag ainst Ukraine, over coming fears, restoring psychological balance, positive emotional states, maintaining resilience (individual, national), courage, mutualunity and support.
