Bezpala Halyna Innovations Management in Libraries of the German-Speacking WorldSection: Section 1. Development of activities of scientific libraries in the conditions of transformation of scientific communications Abstract: The purpose of the work is to study the current trends in the development of innovation processes and innovation management of libraries in the Germanspeaking area, to identify possible innovations for Ukrainian libraries related to this area. Research methods are based on system and structural approaches, includingan interdisciplinary approach. The scientific novelty. Open innovation is considered quite promising as an approach to involving external parties in the innovation process. In the age of Web 2.0, increasing access to digital documents and rapid changes in user needs through the development of Internet technologies, librariesas information service providers are forced to move their products and services to where their users are – both geographically and in terms of content. Conclusions. Research demonstrates the potential and challenges of open innovation and the extent to which it has found its way into German libraries. The proposed study demonstrated the significant potential and challenges of open innovation and the extent to which it is implemented in German libraries. The highlighted experience of foreign colleagues is extremely useful and helps, if properly assessed, to generally improve the information and communication activities of Ukrainian libraries and to implement innovative methods in serving all categories of users, in particular remotely.
