Traditional and innovative aspects of the organization of the work with dissatisfied users’ request s in the Research Library

Abstract: The aspects of the organization of the work with dissatisfied users’ requests (DUR) are considered in this article. The conceptual apparatus is defined and there were given the classifications of DUR on different aspects, established causes of their origin and ways of prevention and reduction. The inevitability of the emergence of the DUR is determined due to continuous growth of documents’ flow, number of subjective and objective reasons. The specificity of combination of traditional technology work with DUR involving information and communication technologies is analized, including the use of automated checkout, barcode. In the Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine (VNLU) is a perennial systematic work on accounting, prevention and reduction of the DUR. There were create the paper card-index of the DUR for the documents from the main fund storage and card-index of the missing documents in the library «Dezyderata». In 2010 at the base of IRBIS-64 was created database «Disclaimers for users of VNLU». Using electronic databases have significant advantages over keeping paper files, because it allows the statistical analysis of all failures in minutes, reduce the time for completion of orders by librarians and receive information about the documents or information resources, identical or similar documents, that are not on the storage space. The database «Disclaimers for users of VNLU», features of the database and its functionality is descriped. Much attention is given to methodical guidance of work with DUR and opportunities for the reduction of DUR through the use of interlibrary loan and electronic document delivery. A set of measures for improving the organization of library and information providing of users is suggested.
