Shapoval Аndrii Epistolary heritage in the collections of the Institute of Archival Science of the Vernadsky National Library of UkraineAbstract: In article on the basis of the analysis of the prominent epistolary historian of literature, linguist, art historian, academician of the Petersburg and All-Ukrainian academies of Sciences V. M. Peretz the activities of the scientist on the development of Ukrainian studies and preservation of ukrainian historical and cultural values in Russia is reflected. The source of the study was the correspondence of V. M. Peretz with literary critic, academician and Vice-President of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences S. O. Efremov, which is stored in the collections of the Institute of Archival Science of the V. I. Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine. The role of the academician V. M. Peretz, which was one of the founders and chairman of the society of researchers of ukrainian history, writings and language in Leningrad, in returning from Russia to Ukraine ukrainian national relics is opened, including a unique collection of prominent collectors V. O. Shchawinskiy and P. P. Pototsky. Emphasized the desire of V. M. Peretz to project a positive image of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences as a national centre bringing together researchers of ukrainian history and collectors of religious relics. It is lit up the activities of V. M. Peretz in the collection of ancient books and manuscripts, most of which were of Ukrainian origin that is evidence of the particular interest of the scholar to Ukraine, its history and culture.
