Use of social Internet networks for dissemination of informational library sources

Abstract: The present paper substantiates the importance of representation of library institutions activity in social networks. It was found that libraries from all over the world create page in different social networks. We analyzed the quantity and quality of the content of the Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine (VNLU) the pages of the most popular social networks. Use of social Internet networks by VNLU, in particular facebook.com and vk.com, allows to keep mutual understanding between the Library and its readers; to establish and maintain mutual trust and respect; to preserve positive representation and transform the negative one into positive; to create conscious understanding about library reform changes, which may be implemented; to manage both reputation and perception of libraries and scholars as well. It is pointed out that maintaining a bilateral dialogue between VNLU and potential readers would become necessary prerequisite for dissemination of scientific information.
