Volkovynska Veronika The scientific institution in the field of social media (On the example of the Presidents of Ukraine Fund Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine pages in social networks)Abstract: The use of social networks by librarian, scientific and educational institutions should take into account the particular characteristics of this tool as part of the network society. The example of Presidents of Ukraine Fund Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine on Facebook can show such specificity and describe the method of study of this activities by building matrix of links between pages in a certain group. The concept of the information society should be supplemented by the description of informational exchange specifics in this society. M. Castells provides a description of the specific informational organization of modernity known as the concept of a «network society». The network is both dynamic and resilient to changes structure. Here, for the dissemination of information is not used one linear channel, but thousands of channels that diverge from interconnected nodes to other nodes. While society as a whole still has a hierarchical structure, online social networks embody the principles and functions, which M. Castells wrote about. Any page on the network is a center of communication associated with other centers. In this case, these connections are: evaluating the messages (liking), sharing and commenting on them. Thus, the more the network center has such connections, the better it performs its functions.
