The role of libraries in changing existing gender stereotypes in society and diversity communication practices of modern libraries in the context of gender consciousness in the knowledge society was studied.

Розкриваються форми і методи бібліотечної роботи в цій сфері.^UThe article examines the role of libraries in the issue of the formation of tolerant attitudes in society aimed at preventing the incitement of xenophobia, discrimination, propaganda of intergroup enmity. Attention is focused on the fact that tolerance in the activity of libraries is an integral part of ensuring the information security of modern society and is aimed at harmonizing not only relations between different nations and cultures, but also socio-economic relations, relations between generations and representatives of different political views. Forms and methods of library work aimed at raising public awareness of the distribution of racist, xenophobic and anti-Semitic materials through the Internet are displayed. Special attention is paid to young users of the network because of possible reception of information on racist, xenophobic and anti-Semitic sites, and the potential risk that such sites present to them.

And these changes create conflict situations that manifest themselves both in the public and in the private sphere of the family. The forms and methods of library work in the field of the formation of gender tolerance in society as part of ensuring the information security of modern society, aimed at harmonizing not only interethnic and cultural relations, but also socio-economic, inter-generational, inter-political relations, are expounded.

Attention is focused on the relevance of the work of Ukrainian scientific libraries to disseminate the principles of gender equality, quality information on this issue. The need for the participation of libraries in countering manipulations in the information and communication space which touch gender stereotypes is noted. The forms of activity of library institutions are considered, thanks to which they become active participants in the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, in particular, in creating conditions for gender equality and supporting gender education. Attention is paid to the forms of libraries cooperation with public organizations, public authorities in formation of new socially constructive approaches to promote ideas of gender equality in society and ensure free access to gender-oriented legal and socially significant information for all categories of the population. Positive changes are noted in library and information support of education and science, in particular, the creation of web portals and library sites, the formation of a full-fledged industry information resource, electronic catalogs, full-text databases, electronic gender libraries has begun. The necessity of creating a National Bibliography on Women’s and Gender Studies, which should become an important component of the state program for the implementation of gender policy and at the same time a national information resource, which will ensure the cultural and intellectual heritage of the nation and make it accessible to modern and future users, is noted.

Також вивчається досвід німецьких фахівців із використання в рамках платформи відкритого доступу баз даних, колекцій текстів та інфор- маційних пропозицій, які містять або перераховують електронні публікації.^UThe article covers issues of access, use, classification of research collections in Womens studies in German libraries’ journal funds. Attention is drawn to the importance of using scientific journals in terms of the relevance and promptness of obtaining information. The positive practice of creating an open access information platform open-access.net is analyzed. The platform provides free and unrestricted online access to scientific information while access to the content of many academic journals is difficult and expensive. German experts gain extensive experience how to use open-source databases, text collections and information suggestions that contain or list electronic publications within the platform. Researchers in countries where libraries are not subscribed to scientific journals benefit the most from the introduction of the open access platform, because, due to the high cost, most libraries cannot afford to subscribe to all scientific journals. This practice greatly expands the range of knowledge and consumers of this knowledge. The reader – anyone – scientists, students, politicians, public figures or just interested citizens can get free access to knowledge in the field of Womens Studies. For Ukraine, a country that has recently begun to pay attention to gender issues, such experience is very important, as it covers key issues of gender research, the place of women in society, government policies on improving and empowering women, as well as information on international and non-governmental activities. women’s empowerment organizations is very relevant. Attracting public attention to such information promotes citizens’ awareness of women’s rights and opportunities, teaches women to exercise their rights, increases their participation in socio-economic and political life and, as a consequence, significantly improves their socio-economic status.

Акцентується увага на досвіді системної багаторічної роботи бібліотечних установ щодо пошуку нових форматів спілкування студентів та викладачів, дослідників, націлених на сприяння підвищенню ефективності освіти з Women's studies та жіночих і гендерних досліджень у цілому. Розглядаються бібліотечні інформаційні бази для проведення жіночих та гендерних досліджень і створені бібліотекарями ефективні системи навігації у розгалужених бібліотечних фондах.^UThis article discusses US universities and national libraries more than 30 years' experience in work as centers for the initiation and education of citizens, as well as leading research centers for women and gender studies in American society. Attention is focused on the relevance of informing the population as a whole about the principles of gender equality, quality information and research on this issue. The main attention is paid to the experience of library institutions systematic work in search for new forms of cooperation between students and teachers, scientists involved in research in the field of female and gender studies. It is noted that thanks to the active cooperation between library workers and library resources users in the field of women and women and gender studies, libraries have become effective participants in the education system and scientific work in general. The principles of building library information databases for the study of women and the gender issue, as well as the effective navigation systems created by librarians in extensive library collections, are examined. This task is very urgent, because often the information researchers require is scattered across all library collections. Great progress has been noted in the field of library and information support for education and science, in particular, the creation of web portals and library sites, the formation of a full-fledged industry information resource, electronic catalogs, full-text databases, electronic gender libraries, as well as cooperation between different libraries. Considering the role of American libraries in organizing women's and gender studies, we can conclude that they not only play the role of leading information and document centers, training centers, but they themselves become significant research institutions. Collections of some libraries are parts of national and world heritage.

Також акцентується увага на необхідності співпраці бібліотек, зокрема їхніх інформаційно-аналітичних служб, із владними структурами, неурядовими громадськими організаціями в питаннях поширення актуальних знань з гендерних питань, просування комплексного гендерного підходу в державній політиці.^UThe article presents the study of the problem of library participation in establishing the foundations for gender equality in modern society, in particular the need to overcome negative gender stereotypes, digital inequality. The available means could help to solve these problems through the use of the potential of libraries, are systematized. The Ukrainian and foreign libraries experience in the elimination of gender barriers in various spheres of public life, in particular, in the field of ICT, is studied. Attention is drawn to the positive results of libraries participation in the national online platform Action. Digital Education, which has become a convenient and affordable service for free acquisition and improvement of digital skills for all groups, and an effective tool to bridge the gender digital division. The role of libraries as active participants in non-formal education projects for women and girls is highlighted. Emphasis is also placed on the need for libraries cooperation, in particular, to connect their information and analytical services with government agencies, non-governmental organizations in disseminating relevant knowledge on gender issues, promoting a comprehensive gender approach in public policy. Special attention is paid to such a socially useful type of library activities as teaching socially vulnerable people the skills of media literacy and critical thinking in the process of searching and processing information. With the help of this new service, library users learn the skills of information retrieval, critical evaluation, systematization and exchange. In this way, libraries make a kind of vaccination against toxic information effects. Another important area of library activity is highlighted − the prevention of gender-based and domestic violence by raising public awareness in the form of providing information, contacts of organizations that can provide assistance. All of this turns libraries into social centers, platforms for informational, psychological and practical adaptation, and support of gender-vulnerable groups.

Аннотация: ^UThe article presents a study of library activities aimed at ensuring gender equality in modern society, in particular overcoming negative gender stereotypes, digitalinequality. The available means to solve these problems through the use of libraries potential are systematized, in particular in the study of ways to integrate genderas a social construct into national legislation and legal guarantees to combat gender discrimination.The participation of libraries in educational activities on vocational guidance and professional adaptation of young people, and promoting adult education, has been studied. Attention is drawn to the positive experience of libraries in providing citizens with opportunities for professional retraining and distance learning courses with a certificate.The experience of library institutions in eliminating gender barriers in various spheres of public life, in particular, in the field of ICT, has been studied. Particular attention is paid to the work of libraries in the framework of the UN project Womenin Ukraine "Promoting Gender Equality and Empowerment of Women in the framework of decentralization reform in Ukraine". Special attention is paid to the work of libraries in helping women from vulnerable groups to overcome the negative economic consequences of the global COVID-19 pandemic through the use of digital platforms and tools, including resources of the Action portal. Forms of involvement of Ukrainian and foreign library institutions in the life of their communities are analyzed. Positive experience of libraries’ participation in solving problem situations of communities under the condition of coordination of their activities with other organizations, as well as in social partnership with representatives of government, law enforcement, health care, social services, professional associations, public and volunteer organizations, is considered.The participation of libraries in the integration of gender issues into the educational system, as well as activity of library institutions in covering legal, in particular, gender equality issues, using the case of informational and educational work of librariesin Kirovohrad region, is presented.The changes in library life in time of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine in 2022 are studied.

Аналізується досвід креативної діяльності бібліотечних установ, які, зокрема, у співпраці з органами влади, громадськими й благодійними організаціями, психологічними службами допомагають громадянам, насамперед жінкам, стабілізувати свій психоемоційний стан, подолати нагальні життєві проблеми.^UThe article highlights the activities of libraries as centers for citizens’ education and enlightenment during the war. A study of libraries activities in wartime aimed at ensuring gender parity in Ukrainian society, in particular overcoming negative gender stereotypes and digital inequality, is presented. It is noted that because of the full scale war in Ukraine, the strengthening of traditional gender roles is taking place. The process of adaptation of library activities to the needs of the war times, creation of effective mechanisms for solving current problems and threats are studied. It is noted that libraries, while continuing to perform their traditional functions, expand them in accordance with today requirements, becoming effective centers that unite communities and support people affected by war, in particular women, as the most vulnerable part of the population. The activity of libraries as social institutions for the formation and implementation of state policy on ensuring the principle of gender equality in society is studied. The libraries activity for the formation of digital competences among women, as the basis of their digital inclusion in social processes, is considered. In particular, the importance of the participation of libraries in the implementation of the project "Woman-leader in the digital space" was emphasized. Emphasis is placed on the importance of teaching women the principles of information and media literacy in wartime. The importance of the participation of libraries in the implementation of projects aimed at educating women’s leadership, is emphasized. In particular, the expe rience of creating "Swedish circles" in libraries, the participation of libraries in the implementation of the projects "Women’s leadership: on the road to restoring Ukraine" and "Safe places and spaces for women, free from violence" are analyzed. The experience of creative activity of libraries is analyzed, which, in particular, in cooperation with authorities, public and charitable organizations, and psychological services help citizens and, above all, women stabilize their psycho-emotional state, overcome and solve urgent life problems. The activity of libraries as socio-cultural centers is studied, their activity is aimed at uniting the Ukrainian people during the war, forming the skills of social activity, responsibility, while emphasizing the role of women in the historical process.
